Music For The Hearts 2019
On September 7th, 2019, the MFTH Committee organized and hosted the 6th Annual Music For The Hearts concert at Evergreen Cultural Centre, the grand and prestigious centre for performing arts in Coquitlam. The MFTH Committee was very pleased to have raised $5,000 for schizophrenia via the British Columbia Schizophrenia Society (BCSS), all thanks to the collective efforts of a diverse group of talented volunteer musicians and performers, dedicated volunteers, numerous financial and in-kind sponsors, and over 150 generous guests.
The MFTH Committee was delighted about this concert’s success in particular as it marked the first event that resulted from the collaboration and concerted effort of MFTH and BCSS, and as it became the most successful event MFTH has had in previous years! All of the funds raised will be used directly to support those affected by schizophrenia, raise awareness for schizophrenia, and contribute to research for better medical services.
The MFTH Committee sincerely thanks Soltani Music School and Westwood Alliance Church Children's Choir for contributing countless amount of hours preparing and coordinating their breath-taking performances. Both of these groups have graciously supported MFTH for multiple years. Additionally, the organization thanks Thia Lanuza and Elision from UBC Music Initiative and other brilliant musicians that were independent of these groups, namely Mahsa Movahedan and Ghazal Farshchian.
This event was proudly sponsored by: RBC Royal Bank of Canada, Dr. Maria Gholami, Mrs. Fariba Kaheh, Eagle Ridge Medical Clinic, BeWell Medical Clinic, Level Up @ Coquitlam, Westwood Honda, Jamila's Kitchen & Grill, COBS Bread at Suter Brook, Tim Hortons @ Barnet Hwy, Browns Social House @ Town Centre, Coquitlam Grill, Starbucks Coffee, JJ Bean Coffee Roasters @ Suter Brook, Save-On-Foods, and White Spot.
The committee especially thanks Dr. Maria Gholami and Mrs. Fariba Kaheh, as they both have financially supported MFTH since its inception as an organization.
Additionally, the organization especially thanks the inspiring and admirable guest speakers of the 6th annual event that shared their personal stories and explained how important it is to support mental health: Dr. Robert Stowe, Faydra Aldridge and Gerhart Pahl.
Many thanks to Negar Tousi, Eugenie Kwong, Diana Chu, Andy Hsu, and the wonderful RBC employees including Cindy Muscroft for dedicating their time and volunteering for the event. All these hardworking individuals put a great amount of effort into making the event run smoothly.
The committee also extends their gratitude to the event’s dedicated volunteer photographer, Joanna Lu, and dedicated graphic designer, Palloma Tomaz Tavares (@tangram.criacoes), who have both supported and contributed to the 6th annual concert.
